‘My work is loving the world, which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.’ (Mary Oliver)

My work is dreamwhispering.  Not the kind of dream you have when asleep, those you have when you’re wide awake.  A friend once told me dreamwhispering sounds a little hippy, and perhaps it does.  But sometimes we have to find new words, as Robert Greene points out:

If there are no words for certain concepts, we tend not to think of them. (Mastery)

It fits well with my joy of listening to people’s stories and somehow helping them to hear what their lives are whispering, the story they want to articulate.

I find myself working with people from all sorts of backgrounds and want what I do to be accessible to as many as possible.  I work with teams wanting to encourage everyone to bring their enthusiastic best.  Whilst there’s a basic shape to how this happens, it’s really up to the person or team to shape the experience.

More and more, I find myself using slowness to make this happen.  Life rushes us along and to find a little slowness makes it possible to see so many of the details otherwise missed.  I find myself reading slowly, walking slowly, involved in slow conversations, and doodling (dawdling).  Often, finding time for slowness, accomplishes a lot more than being rushed along by life.

Slow Journeys in the Same Direction is also a colouring book with some mindful purpose, an expression of wanting to add more pictures to our lives.  I also illustrate for the workplace and for personal gifts.

Hello there, I’m trying to understand your web site, fun as it is.
Do you work one to one and face to face? I am a counsellor and looking for someone to help a friend in a transitional time in her life. I wondered if your style might help tho it may also hinder!
I am testing out your reply box as not overly apparent how to make contact!

      Hello Sue,

I hope this arrives with you safe and sound.

First of all, thank you for getting in touch about dreamwhispering. Secondly, I must apologise for this website. I have been wondering whether to continue with it for some time now.

Most of my work comes through word of mouth and recommendations. My work is 1:1 and isn’t a programme or course, but a journey of conversations specific to each person.

I am happy to share more about this and you can ask any questions you may wish to. Here is the easiest email to contact me on: geoffreybaines@gmail.com.

Once again, my apologies for it not being easy to be in touch.

      Greetings,

      Geoffrey.
